Amazing bakery! I literally have to take two trains and a bus to get there and I'll still do it every time I'm craving a solid good sweet treat. Being celiac has been so tough, and Defloured has helped my transition so much! Such nice and knowledgeable employees as well.
Stopped by to pick up a birthday treat for a bestie of mine that is gluten free. There is absolutely a reason for this establishment to have the well known reputation in the city for serving and baking some of the best gluten and vegan desserts around. Prepare to wait rain or shine outside of the bakery, they will come and personally take your order. Pick your items from the window, full cake options available upon request. We picked a carrot cake and also took a small box of baked goods for a snack! Tried the chocolate zucchini Bundt cake. Oh my word, moist and truly decadent. Whether you are gluten free or not, everyone MUST try defloured!
Gluten-free and delicious!! They make it look easy! I have tried so many gf baked goods and no one tops defloured! The service is great and there is no ambiance, but who cares! It's not a place to sit it's a take-away and it's amazing! Keep up the good work.
This one would be a 5-star review if my interaction with some of the staff wasn't so awkward and uncomfortable. EVERYTHING we got tasted amazing. I didn't realize it was a gluten-free bakery when we walked up. I was blown away by the variety and flavors. Only bummer - if you do not want people walking into your business, and you expect them to know that, you should put a sign on the door. The only awkward moment I had was when I walked in the door and was treated like I was missing my head. Had there been a sign, I would not have walked in the door and created the awkwardness.
My favorite guilty pleasure as of late has been the Defloured vanilla cake slice. It is SO good. It is light and fluffy and the vanilla frosting is amazing. It tastes like something homemade you'd make in your own kitchen. Absolutely love it and can't wait to try some of their other cakes!
Defloured is a GF bakery that offers cakes, bars, cupcakes, cookies, sandwich cookies, whoopie pies, scones, breads, cake pops, bundts, cream puffs, and event bake-at-home chicken pot pies. I tried their Raspberry Bar, and it was pretty good - there was a food ratio of the crunch and the raspberry filling. This was refrigerated, so it was a little hard - not sure if one could 'thaw' it out or warm it up a bit, which I'm sure it would have been better. Very easy to place orders - they only request that it's made in about 7-10 days in advance. Friendly service! +GF bakery +tasty raspberry bars
This gluten-free bakery serves up some amazing, high-quality treats, and they have several vegan options to choose from as well. All of the bakery options are displayed in the windowfront, and a store employee will come outside to take your order. It makes sense to not have everyone crammed into a limited space inside. Whether you are gluten-free or just like delicious treats, this bakery is a must-stop.
During 2020 we discovered this bakery and it had surpassed every GF find since. Everything we get is also fresh, the service is fast, and it's a just a chill place to order. Despite moving well away from the city, my husband got me a cake for my birthday. It was such a magical surprise. Thank you guys for a fantastic treat!
I originally wrote a review in 2019 when we first discovered Celiac in the family. Years later and this is STILL our favorite place for GF goodies. Any time we are in the city and can swing by, we do. We stock up and then freeze them to enjoy over the next month. Although - with 2 teen boys, they often don't even last that long. Run to this amazing place - you won't regret it!
My sister picked up bakery goods for us gluten and dairy free folks and they were so good! For those that don't have gluten, you know what I mean when I say they were almost too good where you're questioning life and if you just got glutened! Glad to say that did not happen. I also do not have dairy so what I've tried was: an earl grey loaf, an iced oatmeal cookie, and a raspberry cookie bar. Everything was amazing. Oddly, I think my favorite was the bread. It was chewy (not crumbly) and had a mild pleasant sweet taste. Will definitely have to go in person next time I'm in the area.
